Ember Covenant

Ember Covenant surprised me. Mobile RPGs often skimp on writing, but this one gives its four companions real voices and a slow-burn plot I wanted to follow. Combat is turn-based on a small grid, so positioning matters more than raw stats.

You gather skills through a branching board rather than a linear tree, which makes each character feel like yours. Battles can be sped up when you want to grind, and slowed down when a boss demands attention.

It asks for a bit of a time investment, but the payoff is a campaign that stays with you. Save your best gear for the third act.
