Big Bass Bonanza

★★★★☆ 4.3 Editor rating

I picked up Big Bass Bonanza expecting a throwaway tap game and ended up playing it on and off for a whole weekend. The core loop is simple: cast, wait for a bite, then time your reel against the tension gauge. What makes it click is the animation and sound. Every catch lands with a little thud that feels earned.

Controls are one-thumb friendly, which is exactly what you want for a game you play in short bursts. There is a light progression where different waters unlock as you go, each with its own fish and scenery. The pacing never rushes you, and I appreciated that you can put it down mid-session without losing anything.

It is not deep, and it doesn't pretend to be. But as a calm-down game between heavier strategy sessions, it earned a permanent spot on my home screen. The soundtrack alone is worth a listen.
